Lots going on at FM these days, the platform is going in for its first fitting (in other words, we're doing the UI/UE/Design work),we're busy working with alpha advertisers and bloggers and actually selling and serving ads for a select group of folks, and we're still deep in the learning phase - talking to agencies, authors, and partners about the idea, and how to make it better.
We're also growing. I'm proud to announce that yesterday was Bill Brazell's first day. Bill was an intern at Wired when I was there, and he was the most outspoken, yet polite, intern I'd ever met. As I was leaving to start the Industry Standard, he presented me with a four page list of things he thought Wired could do better. I was thrilled when he joined the Standard, eventually heading up our New York news team, and now he joins as director of author services - basically, he's taking care of our authors, and finding great new ones (sort of like a record label's A&R guy). Bill's an author as well, and a great editor to boot. We're very happy he's joined the team.
Lastly, we're looking for office space. We're not into expensive, overdone space, but we do need up to 2000 sf in Sausalito or northern SF (Marina/Presidio....). If you have any ideas, email Jennifer at jcharette at fmpub dot net.
Meanwhile, if you want to read up on FM, here are two new articles - one in ClickZ, the other in IWantMedia.
