Thinking About RSS

Dick does some thinking aloud, it's thinking we all need to do to get to the next level in using and benefiting from RSS. The B2 blog has a good conclusion:

That means that publishers need to find ways to track each piece of micro-content and deliver ads to it no matter where it may roam.

Update: Jarvis posts on this issue, and it seems that Fred's suggestion - threads that allow a publisher to track where his/her content goes - would be a solution here.

Hey John, you might be interested in this interview we just did with Dick, he talks about ads in RSS, RSS adoption and a whole bunch of interesting stuff: http://performancing.com/node/214

John, the idea of tracking each piece of micro-content and delivering ads to it no matter where it may roam is very pertinent to Clipmarks as we hope/plan/expect to be one of the key mediums through which micro-content is created and distributed. We're definitely keeping an eye on this discussion. I'm also eager to see how FM helps define the solution.
