Digital Media Industry Outlook Roundup

Amid the din of competing opinions, studies, reports, numbers and predictions regarding the outlook of the digital media industry, there seems to be a growing consensus: 1) non-digital media is in for trouble, and 2) digital media will continue to grow, albeit more slowly. See below for just a small sample of the industry coverage over the last weeks.

Economist reports that online ad spending will survive the recession relatively unscathed.

Chas Edwards suggests that online ad spending will continue to grow, with undifferentiated display taking the biggest hit.

Bloomberg reports that online advertising in for a tough time until 2010. Notes that while other ad sectors will fall, online ad growth will simply slow down.

PaidConent reports that online will keep its head above water while print will likely drown. Predicts several paperless cities by 2010.

AdWeek reports that financial services ad spending dropped a full 10% in 2008.
